Damn...Johnnie Cochran died yesterday. And before OJ found Nicole's Real Killers on the links of southern Florida, too.
Say, has anybody seen Johnny "Savage" Cochryde lately?

Please take a look at the shows at the top of the page. In particular, the benefit show at the Bottom Lounge. This is a really important charity show that you really should attend.
Also notice that I removed the show from Wednesday because it sucked. Not only did Disengage dis-engage from our scheduled engagement, but we were forced to play with that god-awful I Love Rich... People asked me before the show, "Are those guys some kind of joke or what?" My answer? They're the worst kind of joke: neither good, nor funny. Too bad they had to stink up the bill.

Jeez, as if we can't already get enough of Martha, Jacko, or Robert Blake (who cares about him anyway)...now we're off to investigate those junk-shooting baseball players!
I'm actually kind of glad the national media is obsessed with the latest celeb trials and the MLB hearings, in a way...it kind of takes the sting out of seeing the Democrats capitulate not once, but fucking TWICE to Bush in the last two weeks, in votes to approve draconian bankruptcy "reform" and ANWR drilling. Some opposition party...if they couldn't even mount a united front for these issues, then I have very little faith they will hang together for much else. But if the media's gimlet eye wasn't there to cover it, then I guess it didn't actually happen.
Rome is burning, Nero's fiddling, and the barbarians are busy sacking and looting the treasury, but at least there's plenty of TV noise and bright flashing things to watch. Just think about it this way--an investigation into the Gannon/Guckert scandal was voted down along strict party lines...yet this non-event was approved in its place. Priorities, people, priorities!
As most Washington witchhunts go (the McCarthy and PMRC hearings leap to mind), there will be plenty of smoke for the viewers at home to see: but ultimately, no fire. What the hell kind of investigation into steroid abuse is this without depositions from Gambia and Bonds, anyway? I imagine Bonds would have a few choice words for our elected representatives in DC, whose record of voting themselves pay raises every term makes even the greediest professional athletes unions look like two-bit pikers.
The last thing Congress wants to do right now is to have to investigate the White House--anything but that. Bush has put Congress' balls behind glass, and they're not about to reach for the hammer anytime soon...not even to ask where the $9 billion in Iraq have disappeared to. But as long as we're investigating steroid snorting ballplayers, maybe the investigation committee should ask Bush if he had any knowledge of steroid and/or yeyo abuse while he was owner of the Rangers. It's only fair!

I really wanted to try to write about world events less, but I can't help it. In light of the United States' latest colossal snafu in I-wreck, (the shooting death of Italian agent Nicola Calipari after he rescued journalist Giuliana Sgrena,) I just have to wildly and without proof speculate, because the truth likely will not ever be known. But let me ask you, does it suprise anyone that John Negroponte was somehow involved in this? His movement was the reason that this deadly checkpoint was set up in the first place. Complete coincidence I'm sure. Bullshit. Just remember,
we warned you about this guy.
It seems like for the last two weeks, every day or so we're hearing about friends of ours that are getting shipped to Iraq. How sad. I hope the people responsible for this war will suffer in hell.
Also, I have to say, I love this band. We now have a song called "Wang Dynasty." How's that for service?
And, look forward to a new look for the site in the next few weeks. Word.
